Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Award in CCTV Operations Space Surveillance - Unit 1 (Course CRO 1)

CCTV Control Room Principles

Vital Security Solutions offer this two part training programme for operators who require the formal CCTV (PSS) qualification. Successful completion of Units 1 and 2 including the associated assessments will provide you with a BTEC Level 2 Award and the opportunity to apply for a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Licence.

On this part of the course you will learn the duties and responsibilities of today's professional Control Room Operator. Our specialist training will ensure that you are able to deal with incidents in an efficient and competent manner.

Units 1 and 2 may be taken consecutively or separately.

  • Codes of Practice and procedures. British and European Standards
  • Communications. Safety of the control room. Access control
  • Surveillance and audit trail procedures
  • Documentation of control room manuals
  • Incidents and occurrences. Log book entries. Vital documentation
  • Report writing and descriptions. Reacting to emergencies
  • Teamwork - safety of operators and their families
  • Tape and data management - best practice
  • Law and legal issues. Criminal offences. Data Protection Act 1998
  • Confidentiality, accountability and privacy
  • Evidence and the Law in relation to video recordings
  • Statement writing. Communication skills. Telephone techniques
  • Bombs and dangerous materials
  • Health and Safety, Fire and Emergency

 

Course Duration

4 Days

BTEC Registration and Certification Available

Delegates who successfully complete Unit 1 and Unit 2 will be issued with BTEC Certificate which is needed when applying for a SIA Licence

 

Unit 2 (Course CRO 2)

CCTV Control Room Practices

On this part of the course you will learn the practical and observational skills required in the CCTV Control Room. These include the recognition and interpretation of human body language, patterns of behaviour and incident risk activities.

Units 1 and 2 may be taken consecutively of separately.

  • Practical control room procedures
  • Radio procedures and communication skills
  • Standards. First Aid. Health and Safety in the control room
